The owner of AresDestiny.com is trying to sell the site, but, the seller is not authorized to sell the site! Gregg Smitherman sold this site, officialares.com, in October 2006 and signed a 3 year non-compete clause at that time. He immediately started work on AresDestiny.com using the name Troy Meacham. He got caught, and is now trying to unload Aresdestiny.com before the courts can catch up with him. Buyer beware.
There are a number of scam websites that provide access to the Ares software which allows users to share music and other files with each other across a peer to peer network, but are very dishonest about what they provide
Ares Destiny is just one of these sites. It provides a free version of Ares for your use; the software is free in terms of money that you pay upfront, but not in terms of the other costs incurred. I’ll get on to the ‘other costs’ later.
Once you’ve got the Ares Destiny software onto your computer you can start the fun. Fire it up and start to download your favorite songs. Simple as that! The software connects to other users of Ares Destiny and checks whether they have anything that you want – if they do then it starts to download to your computer.
In the meantime Ares Destiny has downloaded the Dealio ad-serving software onto your computer. Can you get it off? If you find a way please tell us.
The really nasty thing is, the company distributed a “clean” version of Ares Destiny at all the big software download sites, so they are somewhat well known, and rank highly in search engines. Now pulled a bait and switch, and if you download Ares Destiny from their website, you get the adware infected version. I hate scams like this.
