One of the bigger players in this ’specifically for 3G’ market is a social networking application called iPling. What makes iPling different from other social networking iPhone apps is in the way it makes the matches between you and other iPling users.
It all starts very familiarly with the relative chore of setting up your profile, your activities and your interests. Then you help iPling by tagging and coloring your profile and its entries. Once tagged iPling uses the magic engine seemingly present in most iPhone apps to determine just who you might be interested in. An interesting thing about iPling is that it has not been placed in the iPhone apps directory. Whether the developers decided that the marketing clout of iPling was not worth the effort, or whether this is some tactical decision is unknown. Whatever the reason iPling seems to be a competent enough app to get over this apparent disadvantage.
