While on holiday in Thailand recently one thing really stuck out: the food. Traveling over to Phuket for a while only confirmed this generalization and I came to the conclusion that the restaurants in Phuket served some of the best food in the world. The seafood in the restaurants in Phuket is like nothing I have ever seen before or since: large, fresh, succulent and very inexpensive this place is a gastronome’s dream come true.
The restaurants in Phuket have so much character it is difficult to fault them, and the food from a backstreet food stall might be as good or better than the food you get from a ‘top class’ restaurant. It is worth pointing out that the quality of food in restaurants in Phuket is in no way tied to its price. I have had super meals from the pavement ‘hawker’ stalls and paid as little as $2 (equivalent). If this doesn’t sound like value for money then I don’t know what does.
Very popular – and understandably so – are the Sunday brunches offered by hotels like the Burassaro or the Indigo pearl. These are slightly more pricey that the other meals you could buy but the elegant surroundings and fantastic choice of food at the Buffet really do make it worth the extra money.
