Omnifone to offer music downloads
Apple and Nokia have a new pretender to the throne to watch out for. Omnifone is all set to launch its handset with unlimited music downloads. The phone will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona complete with MusicStation, the mobile music-download service that has got everyone talking.
Deals are in place to allow music downloads from record labels such as EMI. Music downloads can be received wirelessly over HSDPA and 3G networks. The handset will be in stores in June, a little time before Nokia’s new toy is launched, which will come complete with music downloads from Universal.
We’ll have to wait until next week for Omnifone’s major announcement, but things are starting to get exciting in the world of mobile music downloads. Expect price wars and special offers to ensue as everyone gears up for the Christmas period come the end of the year.
