Village People freak out about filesharing

February 17th, 2008 by vanalli

The filesharing world throws up some strange news now and again. This week’s oddest filesharing story is that the Village People are trying to sue the Pirate Bay. Yes, that’s right: those happy campers who brought us “YMCA” are taking on the filesharing service for copyright infringement.

What’s scary is that this means that people actually use filesharing services to download music made by the Village Idiots, umm, we mean People.

Apparently, the Village People are looking for millions of dollars in damages for this filesharing calamity. Other artists involved include Prince and, possibly, ABBA. As the Village People have only ever really recorded one memorable song (“YMCA”), you can guess which “classic” they are trying to protect.

What a travesty that people who use filesharing services disregard all the hard work and commitment put in by the Village People. We’ve been told that the policeman is particularly angry and the Indian has threatened to do a rain dance if demands are not met.
